UK Bribery Act in force at end of June – official guidance published
A year after it was enacted, the modernised UK law covering all forms of bribery will come into force at the end of June 2011. The trigger came this week with the release of the government guidance on the reach of the provision, making a company responsible for offshore bribing by employees and other associates. Also, closely related, is the updated UK prosecution policy of the Serious Fraud Office. We will be comparing the Act and these statements with the current Australian provisions covering bribery of foreign officials.
