On 29 January 2013 the TI-UK Defence and Security group released an index with a ranking of 82 countries. Australia and Germany were ranked in the top category relative to the other countries listed. The current close scrutiny of Australian defence procurement, which is driving greater efficiencies, may account for much of the top band recognition.
The Australian government is moving to streamline its processes and remove the technical obstacles which could be raised on behalf of suspects. A copy of the Amendment Act and Explanatory Memorandum can be found at the ComLaw website.
