Mining in Mexico

Transparencia Mexicana is part of the second cohort of five Transparency International Chapters to recently join TI’s global programme to improve transparency in the process of awarding mining permits.

This global programme seeks to improve transparency and accountability in the extractive industries, focusing specifically on the very first link in the mining value chain: the decisions by government to grant mining or exploration permits and licenses and negotiate contracts.

On the 28th of May 2020, Transparencia Mexicana launched their corruption risk assessment report.  This research identifies systemic, regulatory and institutional vulnerabilities to corruption in the process of granting mining related concessions, permits and contracts
