Who’s Shaping Climate Action? How weak lobbying rules and the revolving door put Australia’s climate and energy policy at risk analyses the federal Register of Lobbyists, revealing that the number of former government officials on the register grew from 36 in 2015 to 292 in 2025. Today, roughly 40 per cent of all registered lobbyists previously held government positions. In 2023 alone, more than a quarter of those joining the register did so within 12 months of leaving government, with several appearing within six months.
